This article contains details of pay in NHS Band 5 (also known as Agenda for Change Band 5). It covers the Agenda for Change salary in England as a whole, and in the Inner, Outer and Fringe London weighting (HCAS) areas.
In all bands staff receive a starting salary. Then, in all bands except bands 1 and 2, they receive increments after a number of years of service.
Agenda for Change Band 5 salary in England
Staff in AfC band 5 receive two incremental payments. The starting salary at Band 5 is £28,407. This is followed by an incremenet after two years (so paid from the start of the third year of employment) which increases basic pay to £30,639. Then, after two more years of service, at the start of year four, pay increases again to £34,581. The table below shows the salary you should expect to receive for each year of service you have in Band 5.

NHS HCAS / London Weighting Band 5

Inner London staff in AfC band 5 receive two incremental payments. The starting salary at Band 5 is £34,089. This is followed by an incremenet after two years (so paid from the start of the third year of employment) which increases basic pay to £36,767. Then, after two more years of service, at the start of year four, pay increases again to £41,498.
